BusinessObjects 3.1 End of Life

SAP BusinessObjects 3.1 is scheduled for End of Life – 31st December 2015

Companies that haven’t upgraded to BOBJ 4.1 before 31st December 2015 will no longer have support and may find SAP’s BusinessObjects 3.1 increasingly problematic due to technology, browser and operating system advancements, as well as 3.1 not supporting latest version of Java.

SAP will no longer release patches or provide support for BOBJ 3.1 as of the 1st January 2016 which suggests risk to many companies and government organisations that currently rely on the soon-to-be unsupported platform.

The upgrade path is the new SAP BusinessObjects 4.1 platform which, along with risk mitigation, offers significant functional benefits including:

  • Better Integration to SAP BW
  • Lumira
  • BI Launchpad
  • Design Studio
  • New dimensional semantic layer
  • Multi-source universes
  • Advanced auditing capabilities
  • Information Design Tool
  • Native 64-bit application

The 4.1 release also has superb new features for BusinessObjects Mobile out-of-the-box!

SRA Information Technology’s Business Intelligence Team has been preparing for the upgrade over the last 12 months; assisting Government and Enterprise clients in planning, designing, provisioning and migrating to the new platform.

With specialist capabilities in SAP BusinessObjects and more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, SRA Information Technology wants to highlight this milestone as it represents a significant change that requires careful planning.

As we approach the end of life date huge demand is expected due to the need to mitigate the corporate risk associated with the end of life. SRA Information Technology has designed a BusinessObjects Migration and Upgrade Success Plan to ensure those affected can plan, evaluate requirements, migrate and go-live with minimal impact to their users and avoid the risk of relying on an unsupported platform for mission critical reporting and analytics.
