Port of Melbourne

Steering The Ship

The Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) is Australia's largest container port.  The PoMC initiated a Channel Deepening Project (CDP) to ensure Port Phillip Bay could accommodate larger container vessels.  The CDP was an environmentally sensitive project.  Environmental monitoring was vital in order to be able to manage any potential effects of the dredging during the project works.  A number of environmental and operational monitoring programs were implemented utilising EnviroSystm as the environmental data management solution.  Highlights of the solution included real time monitoring of turbidity throughout the Port and real time tracking of dredging vessels provided via EnviroSystm GIS capabilities.

Managing WA's Mineral Wealth

The DMP WA sought to update its minerals information system (MINEDEX) which contained comprehensive data about Western Australia’s mining operations.  The new system had to overcome technology obsolescence issues, data storage limitations and other functional restrictions.  SRA developed a web based application for processing, accessing and reporting on all minerals information held by MINEDEX.  The new system interfaces with other information systems as needed so as to maintain the overall business capability of the department and provides an external user interface for the industry to access MINEDEX data.
