The Challenges

To develop an Arrears Management System to enable the supply and collection of data for the holistic management of contracts in arrears. To provide HomeStart with data to manage and monitor the collection process and minimise their risk. To make the system accessible to internally to HomeStart Finance users as well as to external users from retailers of HomeStart products.

The Solution

SRA developed the Arrears Management System as an extranet solution, maximising leverage of HomeStart's existing infrastructure. The system provides the following functionality:

  • Workflow system for Arrears Management and Realisations;
  • User friendly input screens that prompt collectors to:
    • Utilise the options available to them to rehabilitate genuine borrowers who are having financial difficulties;
    • Minimise the risk of loss to HomeStart with timely actions by collectors;
  • Collect information to provide a holistic view of the contract payment history over the life of the loan;
  • Retain a history of letters and notices, pertaining to arrears, sent to the borrowers;
  • Collect data to monitor the performance of collectors at a retail level and at an organisational level;
  • On-line reports at a retailer level;

Interfaces to the LLA System and other systems have been developed in the form of data export/import routines to transfer data between the systems.

Security is implemented in the system such that retailers can only access details applicable to their own region but HomeStart staff can access details for all regions.
